One to One CommunicationTo practice adept to one communication I rung to someone who regularlyattends the Princess of Wales Hospital, Bridgend for physiotherapyon his knee after an operation 6 months ago. From this interaction I fix that the service from the NHS was satisfactory and adequate, butcould use some improvements. I spoke to the patient mainly ab bulge outwaiting times for appointments and operations, as that appeared to bethe main cause for concern. I conducted the one to one interaction inthe patients living room, so that the surroundings were familiar tohim and he would tonus more at ease. As the room was decorated in warmcolours it created a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere, whichcontributed to making it easier to open up and talk freely.Skill Used==========Comment=======Body languageI utilise open and friendly body language towards the lymph node and didntcross my arms or anything so that I didnt pose across asintimidating. This is because body language makes a g reat restore oninteraction.GesturesI regularly used hand gestures to put fierceness on what I was saying asgestures are a conceptive part of effective communication.Eye contactI regularly hold eye contact with the client during myinteraction. This helped to show that I was interested in what he hadto say and in any case so that he knew when it was his turn to speak. seventh cranial nerve expressionsI used appropriate facial expressions to match my topic of conference so not to confuse the client, and to show interest inwhat he had to say.Open questionsOpen questions require extended answers and make the client feel thattheir opinions are valued. I tried to use mostly open questions to make haste the conversation and so that the conversation flowed anddid not feel like an interrogation. unopen questionsI tried not to ask many closed questions, unless I needed morespecific information, as they can make hatful feel uncomfortable andinhibit conversation.Probes and promptsI used pr obes and prompts to make the client give more in depthinformation and to help him to hazard more about the subject that I wasquestioning them on. I used prompts to help the client understandwhat I was asking by suggesting a possible answer.ParaphrasingTo check that I had heard and understood the client right on I usedparaphrasing as a way of reflecting back to him. Paraphrasing alsohelped him to clarify exactly what it is they were saying, because hehad to listen to the paraphrase and work out whether that is what hemeant to say.
